Is it possible to download updates and save the to a CD?

My friends has managed to bugger her PC badly, last week i went over, and found 4000+ pieces of spyware and cookies on the PC. SInce buying the PC (8 months ago) she has had no antivirus or firewalls running (not even the windows firewall) and is now having problems connecting to the internet (it connects, just doesn't allow you to visit websites).

The internet i can fix, i'm just gonna change it to UK2.net login cause its free. What i really want to know is if its possible to download the virus definitions for norton antivirus to a CD/zip drive, and install them on her PC???

    Cheers

    Ben
