Windows 7 L4D2 Crashing...

Guys a little help is needed...a quick run down of my problem (its a mate pc i built)

Windows 7 32 bit
left 4 dead 2

He can play the game fine but it randomly crash's, not sure what is causing the problem either as it is a random crash, not a blue screen but just a crash the whole screen will pixelate, and the computer will still respond (num lock key) but only for approx one min, the sound will garble then just glitch into one random sound, the pc will then have to be restart.

Ive tried alot already, reinstalled l4d2 tried reloading windows and tested the memory with mem test, checked the hdd for bad sectors and the gpu is fine as the pc will run any other game perfectly fine.

It is just left 4 dead 2 it seems to happen on! im now stuck please help!

I would look towards the soundcard or CPU.

ok, suggestions? im updating the soundcard drivers right now, but cpu as far as im aware is fine, no other problems or hangs, just in left 4 dead 2...

If sound drivers does not fix it....then you have either found an extremely weird issue or the other things your testing with are not stressing whatever is wrong enough to show the symptoms.

For me hard lock = hardware or driver issue.

well so far so good with the new sound drivers installed....just hope it solves the issue thanks for the help so far
