DVR won't recognize Hard drive, but pc will

One of my clients purchased a Zmodo H9104V. He has a WD 80 GB hard drive that has been formatted. I have installed the drive in my cradle and my pc recognizes it and can read from and write to it. When I install it, the DVR will not recognize it. Any special format, firmware upgrade for the DVR???? Please help!!

What did he format it as? If it was NTFS, try FAT32.

Does the DVR see it at all in any menu?

Does it offer some sort of Format option itself?

Otherwise, yes, youd need to format it in a way the DVR expects it.

I have tried formatting it to NTFS, exFAT, as well as FAT32. I can read and write to it when its in my sata dock, but the dvr will not recognize it.

The manual doesnt specify anything particular is required to use a drive, but it does mention that it uses some Linux filesystem.

Which brings 2 possible things to mind, either the drive wont work with the DVR for some reason, or by formatting it, youve made it unworkable.

If its the latter, you could try fully erasing it so its like new, if its the former it could be it doesnt like the drive, or that the DVR is faulty.
