    Upgraded PC but no boot...

    Hi,

Spent today upgraded my pc's mobo, psu and ram, to 16gb (4x4gb) of Corsair Vengeance, the Asus M5A97 Pro, and a Antek TruePower New 750W PSU - but left processor and gpu. Build went fine, other than my fan getting in the way of one stick, hence its removal whilst i wait on another fan, yet on power on the mobo is deciding there is something wrong with the memory, as evidenced by the M5a97 MemOK LED staying constantly lit up - and pressing the MemOK switch to solve this, as the manual recommends, has done nothing! I have removed a stick of ram so there are just 2 sticks, yet am still hacing the issue. The ram is listed on Asus' website as compatible, as is the processor - a Phenom FXII 965 Black Edition.

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Matt

try just 2 sticks in 1 channel, then the other (remove the fan to try)

Asus boards can be very picky with what channel the RAM goes in

This worked, just reshuffled the sticks around and eventually found the right pattern for it to boot! Thank you for the help

Ok... so now it starts, and runs fine... until the 'loading windows' screen at which point it crashes with a blue screen, and restarts. From boot up the GPU fan goes crazy, so think it may be an issue with this? Unfortunately BSOD disapears to quickly to read the error, any way to stop this?

try doing a cmos reset, did you set the ram up correctly in bios? make sure when you were tinkering that you didnt dis-lodge and cables.

Is the ram speed set too high, have a look at the speed (ratio's)
