    Packard bell problems

My laptop has been giving me a bit of a headache and I was hoping someone on here might be able to help. I have a Packard Bell TM94 laptop, which is under a year old. Occasionally I have problems trying to boot it, only the power light comes on and nothing else. The packard bell logo does not even appear in the BIOS bit.

I've tried all sorts getting it to work. I took it to a dodgy repair centre and the guy told me it was the hard drive, so he swapped it around and re-installed windows 7. After a week, the problem came back. I've also tried getting new memory for it and installing the latest BIOS. I don't think its the battery, I've tried taking the battery out and holding the power button several times. When the laptop is on, I have no problems at all.

The problem is not occurring all the time, most times it will come on at second attempt, but one night I couldn't power it on at all. Claiming on the warranty would probably have been my best shot, but I'm travelling around at present in Australia, and I have no idea where the receipt is. I have some recovery discs on the way, but I'm fairly sure they won't help. I think the problem could be the motherboard, but maybe there's something else I could do before I splash out on a new laptop.

    Cheers

    Re: Packard bell problems

Any recent changes to the system at all that coincided with it's intermittent booting issues? Power would be the first thought for me, have you tried a different power cable to make sure the current one isn't on the way out?
