That's in line with temperatures other sites see:

Though why you have an engineering sample chip is beyond me.

Really? Could this be the cause of my woes? Strange that no one at Scan has noticed this yet, I will get in touch with them now

    Uh Oh.
Scan should not be selling Engineering sample chips at all. We've seen this before from Scan, although I can't seem to find the thread now.

Get on the phone and get a replacement chip and/or entire system.

EDIT: The previous thread on the use of Engineering Samples posted by johnathan_phang appears to have vanished. Anyone got that link ?

I'm at work now so it would have to be tomorrow, I think I would feel rude asking for an entire new system.... although after the week i've had doing this that and the other to just try and enjoy my new computer how it should be and then the arguments with Mrs Rookie over it all..... maybe I should see what they are willing to do for me.

You paid for a handpicked retail chip. You didn't get one.

Check with CPUz first. Quite likely that CoreTemp is wrong.

Front page under CPU tab, It will appear as a suffix to the model of CPU. Mine appears as "Intel Core i3 2350M" for Mobile. i.e. Core temp showed ES for engineering sample.

Ah ok, I've just checked and there is no "ES" suffix so it is a retail model.... sooooo why am I having so many problems. I was praying for this to be it just so I knew what had been causing the problem but now I'm back to square one again, come Saturday it will be two weeks of this hell

The OC still doesn't work. It's up to Scan to sort. They have the responsibility to prove it's not faulty.

Re: BSOD - Machine Check Exception

Well it looks like my OC bundle (and possibly some other parts) are finally going back to Scan - The waiting game continues as its now almost two weeks I will have been without a fully functioning computer.... feels longer, I don't think my iPad has seen as much use lol!!

Anyway, I would just like to thank all of u guys on here for giving helpful advice to try and resolve my problems. I just hope this is the end of them and everything is smooth sailing from here. I'm hoping it doesn't take too long for my replacement to arrive because I've got some serious catching up on Diablo III to do!!

    Thanks again,

Re: BSOD - Machine Check Exception

    <><><> Update <><><>

Well my Overclock bundle went back to Scan on Monday along with a letter of complaint about the situation I have found myself in.

I received an email back from Mark in regards to the letter of complaint expressing that getting my system repaired or replaced and back out to me would be a priority.

I sent an email to Mark this morning just to see how things were going but was disappointed in the response I received stating that:

    Hi,

I have checked with our systems department who have been passed your bundle however I have been advised that due to the extended bank holiday weekend we will be unable to begin test/diagnosis of this till next Wednesday 06/06/12.

We will keep you updated as to progress after this time.

    Regards

    Mark R
    Scan Computers
So now I'm going to be looking at waiting until at least June 11th (give or take) before I have either the repaired Overclock bundle or a replacement overclock bundle in my possession. I don't really know what to do now because I'm really disappointed in Scan and their turnaround in getting my Overclock Bundle fixed.

How would you guys feel if you had dropped the best part of £2500 on a full new computer that after a month you still haven't been able to use or enjoy it? And then to make things worse with new tech releases and price drops you could have saved a few £££ or even bought different components with the extra cash?

Also this opens a can of worms in regards to returning other components I have bought because they are now past their 30 day or what ever it is and I haven't even tested them to ensure they are fully working. Also if I wanted my money back where do I stand with all of the other things I've ordered around the overclock bundle?

Re: BSOD - Machine Check Exception

well you can see why i no longer use scan for anything that i cant RMA direct to the manufacturer, they are the only company that i felt the need to take dated high res pictures with the RMA number on a bit of paper showing the parts being returned such as CPU sockets and then have to moan like hell to get a refund back into my account in good time.

ebuyer and amazon always seem to turn things round in 48 hours & you could have requested a refund, you would have had new kit a fair while back if you had gone down that route.

ebuyer and amazon always seem to turn things round in 48 hours & you could have requested a refund, you would have had new kit a fair while back if you had gone down that route.
I did mention about a refund after trying all the different settings they asked me to try but the idea of that seems to have been ignored or avoided. Again, where would I stand with a return anyway? Can I return everything? just the components they think have gone wrong? Everything that was ordered as part of the overclock bundle? Everything I've ordered as part of this new build??

All my friends use eByer, one had a parts bundle turn up DOA, he emailed eBuyer who organised a collection from him the following day and they had tested and confirmed the problem in under 48 hours and he had his replacement with him within 72 hours of encountering the problem. I'm going to be lucky to see a replacement at my door before the 1000 hour of placing my initial order.

My brother is looking to spend about the same on his new computer and I will be advising him to give Scan a wide berth.
