Not been on these forums for quite a while, but I really hope you guys can help me fix this. Can't find anything similar when searching here or a general search via google.
Basically, I can't watch video files properly over the lan on one machine. The video starts, plays for a bit then stops.
But it's fine when played after copying to the local hard drive.
Another pc and a media streamer on the same lan play fine over the network.
It's also not every single video file. But when it does stop playing, it's usually after 5 or 10 minutes, but the length of playback time is not consistent. This is with mkv and avi files. It does the same thing in wmc, wmp and mpc so its not a codec or player issue.
My gut feeling is it's either the network adapter settings or the network switch. I've tried different drivers, still happens (though I watched a couple of files after the last driver change before the video stopped).
Motherboard is an asus m4a88t-d using the onboard ethernet. Running windows 7 x64 (I tried 32bit a while ago, still did it) with sp1 (did it before sp installed too).
Network switch is a tplink tl-sg1008d.
Would really appreciate some help.
