    Dvd Drive HELP!!!

    I recently reformatted my hard drive with windows xp pro and now suddenly my dvd drive wont play cd-roms it just ejects them when i put them in but dvds work fine in there anyone know the problem !!

    also how do i change my cd-rw and dvd drives letters because i owuld like my dvd to be D:/ and my cd-rw E:/ as they are the other way round at the moment.

    It just ejects them? That is very strange behavoir indeed.

    to change the letters round:

    Start - control panel - adminstrative tools- Computer management
    click on disk management
    right-click on the cd drive and select change drive letter
    Add some random letter like Q and remove D
    right-click on the DVD drive and select change drive letter
    Add D and remove E
    right-click on the cd drive and select change drive letter
    Remove some random letter (Q) and add D

    ok so anyone knows a answer to my other problem because its starting to really annoy me just also to add when i go to my computer it says its a cd-rom drive when its a dvd what the hells wrong with it shoudl i reformat reinstalll xp as im out of ideas

    I assume you have tried removing the drive from device manager, rebooting and letting it reinstall ?

    Also have you got the latest firmware for your drive ?
    The make/model would also be helpful ? I have a Plextor 708A and I had a problem where it would only work with DVD's , turned out there was a general problem with the first hardware revision where it would just suddenly stop working with cd's. I RMA'd it and got a later hardware revision, np's so far

    Try searching google for similar problems with your drive, I will try if you handover the model

    Is BDV a make ? Was it from ebuyer ? How old is it ?

    EDIT: hmmm, I think the modelk number is BDV212B and is it made by BTC ?

    Well if you want to try flashing to the latest frimware then this page has it:

    You could also try asking them for tech support, they have an online form you can fill in.

    It could be as a result of the CD laser breaking, or maybe even a damaged lens. It may be easier to just spend £6-£7 on a new CD drive

    lexeus i keep trying to update the frimware but the instructions are just gobbledeegook to me coudl you or anyone give me instructi0ons on how to do this (simple please)
