The Pentium's have 3 main derivatives, the A which is 400mhz FSB, the B which has 533mhz FSB, and the C which has 800mhz FSB. The "E" im guessing is the Intel Extreme Edition (altho ive not seen it called an E before, only EE)

    Just my 2cp

I though the E was the Prescott?

Prescotts run very hot compared to a northwood. They are also slower (from what ive seen). Personally i wouldn't get one.

i did some search in google, one of the article says Prescott has 1MB L2 cache, does ALL Prescott has 1MB L2 cache, or just some?

YES! They All do, but they have longer pipe lines.. and this slows them down! Get a "C" never an "E"...

Also Prescotts hardly overclock at all, partly because of the heat as they are known to run at stock idle around 65C and above.

Actually, 'Presshots' are exceptional overclockers - if you can get rid of the heat. I've seen some pretty good results on water/phase-change systems. See HardOCP and xtremesystems. And with the bigger cache, Prescott scales better than Northwood at those higher speeds.

However, if you don't want to make that sort of leap - and I didn't - I'd certainly recommend going with a Northwood as I did. At 3.5GHz and under they are *generally* quicker than Prescotts, although the lastest benchmarks I've seen seem to show Prescott has the edge in Doom3...
