AMD 64 FX and 3200+ benchmarks question

i read some reviews about AMD 64 FX 53 and AMD 64 3200+, realized that they are as good as (or better than) those P4 3.XGHz in most of the benchmarks test.

AMD's are 2.2GHz and 2.4GHz but matches those P4 3.XGHz, is the reason because their 1MB level 2 cache? and the Hyper Threading? or is it something else?

Its the Arcatecture! Speed is not evrything... But I still prefer intel...

Yes its the design of the CPU - the AMD processers can do more work per clock cycle than P4s. Now that the CPUs have hit a wall as far as speed in GHz is concerned all the manufacturers are taking a different approach to chip design. AMD have their 64s , Intel have their Pentium - M , and IBM have their Power PC processors.
