    Explorer windows are blank

    Hi,
After a fresh reboot, and installing only McAfee & wireless networking, the explorer windows are now blank.

Chrome works fine but "My Computer", control panel, any window in explorer window is just a blank white screen.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you

Hmm Ok I'll start with the obvious, have you rebooted?
I assume you can see the desktop ok (icons, start menu etc).

Can you access the task manager at all? (right click on an empty area of the taskbar and select task manager)
Which version of Windows are you running?

    Re: Explorer windows are blank

    I have rebooted many times.
    I am running Vista.
The desktop is fine, programs start from icons, start menu seems fine.
I have tried EUsing reg repair but no help.
Tried AdvancedSystemCare, paid and it found loads but cleared them fine. Still no help.

Then something really odd has happened.
After a reboot, ASC is asking me for activation number again. It is as if each time I reboot, it restores the PC to the previous boot.
Happens with McAfee too, update it, reboot then it seems ready for the update again......
    grrrrr

    Re: Explorer windows are blank

could be a malware thing, seen some hide everything after being cleaned

open a window alt-f goto tools. view then folder options and tick on show hidden files and folders, if everything comes back then your need to right click the folders and untick the hidden option on anyfolders you want shown normaly, then change back the hidden option in the tools/view menu back to hidden.

Also you tried a system restore ? a quick restore back a few days might work
