    Angry Build issues

Hi, i just finished building my pc (that i brought from overseas when i moved here) in a shiny new FD Core 3000, and im having a couple of issues.

    1. If i close the right side, my computer will not boot, power+fans>off> repeat
    2. Ive got a P5E motherboard, ATX. If i put in the screw on the middle of the bottom row, same as above.
    3. If i plug in the fan control, it boots then randomly restarts a couple of seconds in.
    4. if i tap the plastic next to the power switch hard, it resets. If i put in a USB stick too hard it resets.

    VERY ANNOYING!

the only thing that comes to mind is power supply. but i dont see how the motherboard screw could have anything to do with that.

    any ideas?

    Re: Build issues

Sound like the mobo is shorting, are all the stand-offs installed?

Fractal Design cases have have quality issues recently, so much so that OcUK have delisted them http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...php?t=18468916

    Re: Build issues

All standoffs are installed. If I put in the middle screw on the bottom row of my mobo (atx) that it shorts.

Well, I'm going to build everything outside but hook up the case buttons and usb and bump it and see what happens, if it doesn't short then I'm looking at a return. And getting the antec or corsair instead. The thing is I like the case but this is too much.

    Re: Build issues

Could be the motherboard rather than the case. Check the EMI shield isn't shorting to the case or USB pins etc.

    Re: Build issues

Im testing it now outside the case.
    Inside are
    PSU, HDD's, Fans
    Outside on a cardboard box
    Motherboard, GPU

it boots fine, no short circuit, even if i bump the case sitting alongside.

now that i've figured out that all my troubles boil down to the standoffs and my motherboard having issues, any ideas why?
i'm planning on just getting some motherboard washers and putting it back inside without making contact. I'm guessing not a good idea due to static, etc. What if i screw one in without a washer to ground it? Is that enough?

Or should i just return the case and run the risk of the same thing happening with the next one?

    Re: Build issues

    RESOLVED!

I had an ID ten T error.

i seem to have forgotten that ATX only uses some of the standoffs, and i went and installed them all.
    DOH!
