    There's sometimes no real benefit to closing threads, for example someone with a similar problem and/or solution can post and subscribers to the thread will be updated.

    With a forum as active and popular as HEXUS it would be impractical to monitor al threads to see when they are resolved. There is also some value in leaving threads open for discussion, but if the OP has stated that he has solved the problem, the circumstances where additional comment is useful is somewhat limited!
