Cool COOLERMASTER CM690 case fan replacements?

    Hello again,

I have changed my case to the CM690 II ADVANCED USB 3.O

The stock fans are too noisy for me - i need some help please on replacing these for silent and good airflow ones.

i am confused a little because on the box and spec of the case it says the fans are 19dba which i thought would be silent??

thanks in advance - some links to what i need would be great - i don't want to go crazy splashing out too much though

Is your fans attached to the motherboard system fan header or is a attached to the molex from PSU?

If the fan is attached to the PSU, it would be spinning at max speed therefore it would be noisy.

Otherwise, you should be able to control the fans attached to the motherboard system fan header.

Re: COOLERMASTER CM690 case fan replacements?

I also have the CM690 II Advanced - USB 3.0 Edition
The stock fans are pretty quiet, and I think the bulk of the noise comes from turbulence as the air passes through the mesh.
As a test, what you can do is disconnect all but one of the fans, and unmount the connected one from the case. Turn it on and listen to how loud the fan is.

I've mounted an additional fan on the side of the case. Despite being a very quiet fan, it was very noisy. I have mounted a good filter on the side, and this has greatly reduced the noise level.

Hope this is of some help..

From reviews around the net, that particular case has NO FAN CONTROLLER.
There are those that include fan controllers like ones from Antec, Corsair, and Fractal-Design. Some of those cases have controls for high speed or low speed for minimal noise.

But since you bought it already, all I can suggest for now are 140mm fans. Most of them on the market are pretty quiet, and you'll get those for just about the same price of 120mm fans depending on the brand and model.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - there are fans out there that have not quite good builds that cause vibrations, these vibrations tend to be the culprit for noise. I recommend those from Enermax, Fractal-Design, Antec, Cooler Master and others...I really wouldn't like to say something bad about a particular brand but I should just warn you. There's this brand that offers high RPM fans for a reasonable price, but head my warning, these things are really noisy, and they tend to cause a lot of vibration. When my computer is off, I spin the fan and I can see it wobble a bit well I'm not saying their names but don't go for high RPM fans that say they're quiet.

Go for 1200 RPM fans, it's kind of good. BTW here's a review of Antec's TrueQuiet 140mm fan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Jqo39N316s
