    Arrrghhh...new puter gonna kill me



    Yes guys im very very angry ATM a whole day down the drain

    Here's my problem

    Built a new computer

    A64 3000+
    MSI k8n neo platinuim
    1 gb corsair XMS3200 2x512mb
    X800pro
    80gb seagate sata HDD
    dvd drive
    NO floppy

    Go to install windows how i always do first boot from win98 se disk in comand prompt FDISK partition creat etc shutdown to format! wont let me format c: wont work????? so restart boot via cdrom again and this time start windows 98 setup cool format starts finish's and i get

    ""Setup cannot install windows"
    ""A disk error was detected while writing a new boot record to your first disk""
    ""esc to exit setup""

    and thats a circle basicly load setup again and it goes through the formating bit again?

    Ive even try'd installing WinXP from dos using smartdrive and all i get when i try load that is
    ""XMS driver notinstalled""

    any help pls guys

    havent you tryed installing it booting from the cd xp that is.

    Cant boot from Xp cd have trry'd going through i386\winnt but just get error's

    Stick the drive in another PC, format then scan for errors!

    the xp cd should boot automatically when you reboot the machine with the disc in. make sure the first boot device in your bios is set to your dvd drive and watch the boot process carefully so you can stab the any key when the prompt comes up 'press any key to boot from cd...'

    The only time I have problems like that is when I pushing memery passed it limits.

    After install putting it back was 100% stable (proved by months of use)

    Try backing your settings off a bit
