Exclamation Immediate system restart on power-up

So this is an issue that suddenly occurred, and I'm uncertain as to why.

The system was running perfectly just a few hours ago, but now during boot the system immediately restarts.

The power supply (Corsair) has a self-test feature, which it apparently passes. I removed and interchanged both RAM sticks, and the issue persisted.

The LED debug screen on the motherboard simply flashes, it doesn't seem like it even begins the boot sequence.

CMOS reset also resulted in no change.

Ah, sorry forgot to mention that. It doesn't even reach POST, no.

I think PSU and or power plugs not in fully. Try re-seating both power plugs to the MoBo, and then another PSU.

Re: Immediate system restart on power-up

I removed every component bar the CPU/MoBo, and the issue persists. I've got a secondary PSU I could test with, so I suppose I'll do that in a while and report back.

    It's strange that the 760i passes it's self-test though.

Possible short ? Are all the stand-offs ok ?

Wouldn't a short have caused issues from the get-go though? The system had been running fine for two weeks until today.

Re: Immediate system restart on power-up

Aye. A loose connector could have moved or a loose standoff moved away from the MoBo. It really sounds as if the board isn't getting any juice. Let us know how the 2nd PSU does.

Re: Immediate system restart on power-up

Tested with another PSU, issue persists. At this point it looks like the motherboard is dead.

I didn't see any obvious issue with the stand-offs either. I'll do a last-ditch effort to test the RAM in a friends computer tomorrow, but again I doubt it's the issue.

I'd agree. MoBo sounds like it.
Still under warranty I assume. RMA it.

Yup, luckily it's not a very old build.
