windows 8 will not find onboard ethernet??

hi guys, i have a gigabyte 78lmt usb3 rev 4.1 mobo. ive been to the website, got the latest drivers for everything....got to the realtek lan driver, and noticed with Ethernet plugged in...the green light wasnt lit up. so i installed the latest driver from the site, and a message appeared saying cant detect lan, if its in deep sleep plug in cable. some suggest pulling the ram out, for 10 minutes, which i have done, but its not working, its nowhere to be found in device manager. the light on my router is lit up, so i know the cable is working, the light on my nic is dead though...any suggestions as i am using a 10/100 usb Ethernet adapter and my downloads seem to be randomly freezing and stopping and i need to see if its my new fiver or the usb network adapter.

any help be great, the bios settings are all enabled so im stumped!

    thanks

Try resetting the BIOS. I've seen this happen more times than I can remember on Realtek cards.

Have you booted UBCD, Linux, or some other OS? That often seems to upset the Realtek chipsets.

no,the base unit was supplied with no os, i put windows 7 home premium on and upgraded to windows 8 pro 64 bit, ive been using a wireless usb adapter but upgraded to fiber which was installed today, and found the ethernet simply doesnt show up or work, i had a usb 10/100 ethernet so used that instead. anyway, ill give that a try now, thank you for the advice.

Yeah, that's a classic symptom of it. The first time I got hit by it was after booting the UBCD. It took me an hour or so to nail it down.

Google "realtek network vanishing" - it boggles the mind how long it's been an issue for.

If it works by the way, I'd strongly recommend disabling deep sleep: http://adeelejaz.com/blog/realteks-n...ep-mode-issue/

its worked, thanks alot, i did just drop a load in my pants as after clearing it and loading the defaults on the first startup my screen was all over the place and it looked like my graphics card wasnt working, all pink and blue lines everywhere, but it reset itself, and has booted great and the LAN is now working and showing up. thanks for that link...this is my next step. thanks guys you both been a great help.
