    Unhappy Driver needed

I bought this from SCAN sometime ago :

MICRONEXT MN-WD552B Mini Wireless LAN Adaptor

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/micro...reless-adaptor

Now, I can't find the drivers CD and also can't find the drivers on the net.

I have installed Realtek RTL8188CU drivers and WiFi speeds are a poor 0.5Mbps, while my phone in the same room picks up 25Mbps.

    Re: Driver needed

Go into device manager and get the exact device ID - you'll have better luck that way finding exactly what its using.

Having said that, a £5 ,no brand wireless micro dongle isn't going to break any speed records...

    Re: Driver needed

You could try older versions of the realtek driver I have had trouble before with realtek drivers where older ones have been much better, though not quite as bad as you describe.

You could try one of those massive driver pack downloads I can't remember which site it was.

    Re: Driver needed

    Get yourself a copy of Devcon.exe http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311272/en-us then from the command line 'devcon.exe hwids * > C:\IDs.txt'

Search IDs.txt until you find Hardware ID for your wireless adapters and Google that ID to get your drivers - works 100% and 99% of the time you get the drivers you need!

It's much easier and faster to do in device manager though. Just copy and paste it

    Re: Driver needed

So, I am trying to install this on PC2 at home.

On PC1, my PC, I plugged it in and Windows update downloaded the RTL8188CU drivers and voila! Now, problem is PC1 runs 32bit W7 and PC2 runs 64 bit Win7.

I extracted the drivers using DoubleDriver but the drivers being 32 bit refuses to work on 64 bit Windows. Guess, I'll have to wheel PC2 near the router and do the Windows update trick
