New Build Win 7 Mouse Problems

I have my new build up and running Win 7 64Bit 16GB RAM. But now and than my mouse does some strange things.

1, every now and then the pointer will just freeze in place for about 5 seconds.
2, the pointer changes to odd icons, like a double arrow <--> the round timer and a yellow line l
3, sometime just powers off then comes back on.


It is even doing it as I type this, the mouse in question is a old Belkin Laser Glow Mouse (4 years)

Any ideas must welcome.

Have you tried a different surface? My laser used to jump to the top left corner all the time, before I started using a manilla folder as a mousemat.

What nvidia drivers are you on? As the latest have lag/freezing issues. Rolling back to 314.22 should solve the issue. (See nvidia geforce forum for descriptions/issue)

I have been waiting a couple of days to see how it worked out as it was not a all the time thing. I used a older driver and mouse is working fine. Had been reading all over the web of many an answer. but I found it here, touch wood.

My 5 year old mouse lives for another day.
