    PC Running slow after upgrade...

Ok, i upgraded my main gaming PC and moved the spare bits over to our living room PC... Now the living room PC seems slower at loading Windows and opening/closing stuff and i don't know why?

    - Changed CPU from a Core i5 2500 to an i5 3570K.
    - Changed GPU from a 2GB GTX 660Ti to a 3GB Radeon 7950 Boost.
    - RAM is now running at DDR3 1600 instead of 1333 after the CPU change (using XMP profile in the bios).

... What could be causing the PC to feel a bit sluggish? All Nvidia drivers were completely removed before installing the AMD card and the PC was running perfectly fine before swapping the parts over.

    This one has me puzzled

Disk IO is nearly always the limiting factor. If you've changed stuff then windows might not have built up it's caching profiles yet. Give it a while, run disk clean up (including system files). Let windows run it's default pagefile, defrag and superfetch settings etc.

Does windows need to cache everything again if only the CPU and GPU were changed? Everything else remains the same except the display drivers (and memory speed). I'll give it a good cleanup and also run a different virus scan etc... See how it goes .

EDIT: changing the CPU and GPU in my main PC didn't harm loading performance at all...

    - Disk Check will automatically start when you logon Windows

    Stop Unnecessary Background Programs:-

Sometimes there are some background programs that are running without our consent and eating up the memory and energy of the CPU. Closing down these programs will speed up your laptop performance. To do so follow the instructions below:

    Fix Registry Errors:-

Mostly laptop runs slow issue occurs due to broken Windows registry entries. Fixing registry will help you to boost up your laptop. You need to download and install a Registry Cleaner program to fix corrupt or broken registry entries. To download a reliable registry cleaner, go to famous website download.cnet and search there Reginout. Which I personally use and recommend the friends. After downloading run all of its tools one by one except Internet Optimizer, to clean all the junks and registry errors from your computer.

I would recommend doing a clean install of windows when changing the cpu or motherboard (or at least a repair install).
I especially recommend doing it if you are moving from a dual to a quad core or changing series of cpu's (sandy bridge to ivy bridge) as the architecture of the cpu's changes significantly with each series and you may run into issues.

Re: PC Running slow after upgrade...

to the person above who recommends registry cleaner. I've never found these to be reliable, and in some cases they actually corrupt the registry doing more harm than good. If the OP does not have one already I suggest they keep the money and resort to BIOS reset and clean windows install. A regular fresh install does a much better job of keeping the machine free of bloatware and the registry uncluttered than any reg cleaner.
