Samsung 1510 Laser Printer - Help!

Does anyone know anything about getting a Samsung 1510 laser printer to feed paper properly? It was working fine up until I decided to change the toner cartridge; after closing the unit back up and printing a test page, it decided to make a grinding noise, & jam. This happens every time I clear the paper & try again - a single sheet gets stuck as it's pulled from the paper try.

So I've taken the printer apart as far as I can, cleaned the inside & all the rollers I can see, as well as those on the feed tray itself. I put it back together...& exactly the same thing happens. So I thought it might be something to do with the new toner cartridge; I put the old one back in, & exactly the same thing happens again! So...I'm out of ideas I don't think it's the paper I'm using, as it's the same bog standard 80g office paper I've been using for years. I've been through the manual & done the usual things like fanning the paper so it won't stick to itself. I'm basically at the stage of dumping the printer & buying a new one, unless anyone has any ideas as to what I can do to get the damn thing feeding paper again?!

Re: Samsung 1510 Laser Printer - Help!

Seeing as printers tend to be viewed and priced as disposable commodities these days the almost universal response is, as you've said, to dump it and buy a new one. Hard to argue with it in terms of the investment/return of time and money and the fact that spare parts, if needed might be nightmare to obtain.

Having said that, if I had to take a stab at what the issue is, without having heard the sound or taken a look, I'd guess the issue is with some sort of motor or gear problem. If so, if it isn't a jammed gear you'd need a spare. Could be the cartridge itself though. Have you tried putting a different/the old cartridge back in? I'd also gently tilt the printer a bit see if you can hear anything loose inside. Beyond that, I'd ask yourself how much time you're willing to invest in solving it versus the cost of buying a new printer.

Don't know if any of this is much use. Seems like printers have been a pain forever.

Thanks very much for your help Yes, I tried putting the original cartridge back in, but the problem persisted. I've given in & just bought a Brother laser printer as a replacement...hopefully it'll prove reliable!

are these the cheap lasers that were about £50 in 2006 ish? I got shot of mine 2 years ago for the same issue, I think it warps the tray or something if you do it slightly wrong.

It was only a cheap one it's true, but it didn't get used that much...maybe that was the problem? Anyway, got a new duplex one now which seems to work well, & for which the consumables are reasonably priced...
