4 screens without SLI

Hi,

Looking for a quick solution to a simple problem (if there is such a thing)

Problem
would like to have 4 displays, not used for gaming or photoshop etc just as a work computer but must have 4 screens. user is relatively novice so keeping things simple is essential

Solution 1
AMD eyefinity - firepro supports 4 Mni DP ports but has a price tag of about £600

Solution 2
SLI - often has issues with drivers etc, not really for a novice.

Question
Can you get a motherboard which has 2 PCI Express slots like This one and then plug in 2 graphics cards like This one. then plug in 4 DVI screens? Would that work?

a lot will depend on the OS, but it will be a lot easier to just use 3 displays on one card and the other on the integrated gpu.

Do you know of any cards that support 3 displays, and a board that will allow integrated GPU aswell as PCI e display? remember the target is simple trouble free low cost computing!

Oh the OS will be either Windows 7 (pro) or Windows 8.

I think it is possible now to daisy chain DP connectors allowing more than one monitor to be run from a single DP output on the GPU, but I don't know much about this, hopefully someone can enlighten us.

If the monitor contains the right bit of kit you can, but they're usually not cheap monitors.

Didn't AMD produce a 6x Mini DP Eyefinity Edition 5870? Was there ever a sequel?

Probably can't get a new one now, but maybe on Ebay?

Any GeForce 6xx can support 4 monitors, it's just having enough connectors of the right sort for your monitors, or having adaptors.
