    keystrokes on mouse buttons...

... right this is my situation, my old mouse was a microsoft intellimouse explorer 3, the software i got with the mouse was excellent, it had a VERY useful feature that let me add a games exe to a list and assign custom keymapping for that exe, I.E. i add call of duty exe to the list, now this gave me the option to assign keystokes to the 2 side buttons, veryuseful and quick way to get them working in a game that doesnt reconise 5 button mice.

I now have a logitech mx 1000 lazer mouse and i love it, trouble is i hate the software as is doesnt give me the option to assign custom keystroke profiles for games. is there a work arround for this, getting the side buttons working in games that dont reconise 5 buttons? or 3rd party software that does what the MS software does, or even better, getting the ms software running with the logitech mouse ( now that WOULD be good )

    please help,

    cheers

The software does provide this - I know - Thats how my side buttons are set up

Just open up your keyboard/mouse settings - choose keytstroke assignment and enter the key in the box below - simple as that.
Now go away before I taunt you a second time.

rythmic i dont think that's quite what he means

dazzaw17 do you mean so that individual programs have different button mappings? Thats how my microsoft intellimouse is setup. EG for CSS ones reload and ones jump, and in generals they are for selecting groups etc

I dont think you can do that with logitech mice - at least i couldnt see the option to whilst i had my old one[sold it cos i absolutley hated it, M$ make much nicer mice ]

    Sounds like it to me....

If you want profiles for different apps - theres a third party utility here that does that job:

Think it does work WildmonkeyUK- but you lose the extra resolution of the logitech mice have if you dont use logitech drivers.
