Hello all,
Kind of a funny question really. I don't think I am losing my marbles but I'll go ahead away.
Received two management switches both seem to be unresponsive via a serial link. Using Tera Term for this.
What I've tried:
Physical and logical loopback on the serial port (local echo and loopback via the physical pins (it's a IDC10 to serial DB9 bracket))
Changing Baud rate, default for this switch is 19200, also tried lowering the receive and transmit buffer
Tried both a straight-through and NULL modem cable
Tried every terminal IDs as it wasn't listed in the documentation, however my other switch is VT100 which Tera Term supports
Attempted Telnet using the default IP settings on both switches... to no avail, which is extremely odd, should at least connect
Where I bought it from (eBay) have very high reputation and they have listed these as used however fully tested and working. They apparently have been reset however I cannot even Telnet in using the default settings.
So, my only suspicion is that I have in fact received another straight-through DB9 serial cable which won't work. Both devices (serial port -> switch) are DTEs for communication.
Both switches use standard RS232 DB9 serial cable.
Just odd I can't even Telnet in considering these switches are supposed to be reset (default IP settings are provided within the manual).
Any suggestions?
