i've got an MSI K7N2G-ILSR but can't seem to get the on-board sound working

i've tried various drivers but nothing i'm using a PCI sound card at the moment, could this be conflicting with the on board sound? the sound is enabled in the bios and in Hardware manager it says the sound is working OK

has it had it or is there anything else i can try????
