    ntoskrnl.exe has been corrupted

    As the subject says my ntoskrnl.exe has become corrupted/missing this happened after installing a tv card and it working successfully for most of a day. I came back to the machine later in the day and it had gone into power saving, it wouldnt come out so i had to reboot and now i just get told this file is missing/corrupted.

    I've tried copying it from my Windows XP CD but i get told something along the lines of 'The file specified could not be copied', other files copy but not this. My question is is there anyway of avoiding a Windows install?

    Thanks for looking.

    Take the TV Card out - see what you can/can't do now.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    I shall do that as soon as i get home, i'll post what happens, thanks for the speedy reply. Shame i didnt see the review of the VisionPlus card before i bought this Hauppauge one, oh well.

    -- Just to finish this thread off, thanks Kez for your help i tried removing the card and it made no difference. After trying to re-install Windows on the partition currently used for windows it looks like the hard drive is damaged. It wouldn't format the partition telling me it was damaged and then when i turned S.M.A.R.T on in the BIOS it told me the hard drive was bad. I'll look out for a new hard drive, and must try not to apportion blame to components when its not their fault, sorry tv card.
