    Hard disk data recovery services

    Hi guys,

I was just speaking with a friend who asked me about data recovery from an HDD that has physically failed somehow. Don't have any details beyond that. The drive has photos of their kids etc that are valuable to them.

Can anyone recommend a data recovery service in the UK?

    Or any other suggestions.

    Thanks!

I had a chat with these guys once on an unrelated issue, I was doing some warranty exchange on no doubt a printer, they had all the kit and didn't talk BS then when a m8 did the same stunt of not backing up kids pics I referred him, cost him a couple of hundred but they got the data off.

Re: Hard disk data recovery services

I have used these services before through work, they can be extremely expensive (in the thousands) I would suggest some DIY methods, this can be from putting the drive in a freezer for a few hours to even taking the disk apart to free a stuck head.

they will be expensive to do professionally ...

^ the freezer trick , can work
a sharp tap from a screw driver can work,
    getting more adventurous :-
    swapping the controller board ,
or opening it up and running it like that can work ....

now is a good time to mention about backups , either physical [then offsite at a friends or other family], or cloud based [I know of several people who use backblaze ]
