I have a weird problem with an Asus P8Z77-V motherboard, which a really can't fathom. I'd really appreciate any help anyone can offer!
Every time I boot up the PC, I get the message 'CPU fan error - press F1 to enter BIOS'. So when I enter the BIOS, I don't need to change any settings - I just hit escape, don't save any changes (I haven't made any), and the PC boots up normally, with the fan working fine (normal CPU temps). My first thought was that the fan for the cooler was on its way out - it's over five years old. So I replaced the fan, switched on...and I still get the error message. Hmm...okay, maybe the fan-header on the motherboard is not working properly. So I try another fan header...and I still get the error message! I don't think clearing the BIOS will help, as a replaced the CMOS battery a week or so ago, which obviously cleared the BIOS in the process. Has anyone come across this problem before? It's not a huge problem, because the PC still works...it's just annoying that every time I switch the PC on, I have to go into the BIOS & back out again in order to get into Windows. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!
