    Laptop not following power instructions

I currently have my lenovo yoga 710 (~2 yo, last fresh OS install a long while ago) with W10 set to go to sleep after 5 minutes on battery and 10 minutes on charge, but it seems of a mind of its' own in this regard, sometimes coming back to a locked laptop, sometimes not, for no particular rhyme or reason. I have no aftermarket nor lenovo battery management software, only f.lux, which shouldn't be doing anything other than modulating screen brightness twice a day. I have no software running as far as I can tell that might otherwise be overriding any of these settings. I have in the past messed around with services and forgotten what I've done but I can't see here how that might affect things and I doubt I would have turned off or adjusted any power settings. Any halp please?

Anything the power management settings in the BIOS over-riding windows PM? Wake events etc..?

Re: Laptop not following power instructions

Nope, nothing. Interestingly, as I tried to get into bios the first time, assuming there was an F2 option, i.e. before I had to go into W10 settings, clicking the power off button only turned the laptop off briefly before it came back to the same log in page.

Re: Laptop not following power instructions

This seems a tricky one. Can you reinstall Windows on a newly created partition (if you have the space) to rule out your current OS install? You may be having some strange problems with drivers so may be worth updating those, mainly chipset I guess. Try the Lenovo ones direct and the manufacturer ones if available (sometimes not for laptops).

I would also suggest contacting Lenovo directly they will have experience of this if it is indeed some kind of hardware problem. Even if not, they should be able to help, they're pretty decent.

    Good luck.

Before you get any further I highly suggest performing a bios update - always worth a shot!

Re: Laptop not following power instructions

Done a BIOS update and updated a few other things direct from the lenovo website, no joy. Spoke to lenovo technical support who suggested turning it off, holding the power key down for 30s, and then trying again - predictably, no joy there either. Going to try to create a partition and new install as above as my next port of call.

Can anyone think of any settings or services or programs running in the background that might interfere with native power settings? If these solutions don't work I'm faced with buying a new laptop.
