Basically I will be buying 2 server PSU's to convert them to a car power supply for diagnostics and flashing reasons. Now the voltage regulator is bypassed with a small pot to tweak the voltage up to 13.4, can I replace the pot with a premade digital voltage regulator that will keep it dialed into 13.4 volts as slight fluctuations can brick the ECU's?

I'm used to big cars with big batteries to turn over big engines, and 200A alternators to get them charged back up again. I am staggered though that you need a 1KW psu to keep a car going when flashing.
I was wondering about re-flashing the entertainment system on my Alfa which apparently takes half an hour off a USB stick. That's about the time for my drive into work, I can live without a radio for one trip.
Well one would be enough but a pair gives you that bit of backup as well, it will also be fed from my SMT2200i UPS

At 20A a 60Ah battery should last 3 hours. How long does flashing last?!?
If it's a lead acid battery then fully discharging it like that won't do it any good at all - flashing can't take that long though... can it?!

Car won't flash below 13v to ensure its on external power.
That's fair enough, the stop start on my car won't work if the battery voltage is under 14V so 13V is quite flat
Has your car got a lipo battery?
