noo. another windows prblem.. task manager dose not close crashed programs

when a progaram crashes task manager does not always quit it.. it just stays gchrashed on the desktop. HWen you glick it sends an error report and that is it. The prgrams i have had this problem with so far are ad-aware SE and quicktime.

Its very rare that task manager immediately closes a unresponsive program, and you will usually experience lag and a window in window graphics corruption until the program is closed.

Sometimes the whole computer can come to a standstill when programs become unresposnive, so I suggest if you get that with a program, you should reboot.

If your on XP, as i cant remember if older OS's do it, but in Task Manager, click "Processes" and find the process. Click it, and click "End Process"/right click the process and click "End Process" and it SHOULD kill it instantaniously.

Erm donut, that simply isn't true. The PC freeze up happens when cancelling Applications and Processes.

You may have some spyware that is making it crash possibly ?

Try booting into safemode and run a full Antri Virus scan not ommiting anything in the search and also do the same with ad ad aware

Try closing a progravim a 'processes' when it becomes unresponsive. It does suffer from the same lag and freezing that closing through 'Applications' gives you.

In fact, only 20 minutes ago I had an unresponsive program, and closing the process in 'processes' made the PC hang for about 3 minutes, before a 'would you like to send Microsoft a error report' window came up.

Btw, I wondered if you could help me with some weird problem I've been getting. If I have Task Manager running, and I click Windows Update, I see in the applications tab, a program called SysFader is launched for about 1.5 seconds. Then it closes, and Windows Update launches in Internet Explorer.

I checked Google, and it seems SysFader is some virus, but I only get it when launching Windows Update. Anyone know whats going on? Google's results all have people with computers that reboot themselves etc, whereas I have none of that.
