Fish out of water again. Can someone give me a step by step guide on how to ensure I have USB 2 enabled on this mobo as when I couple my new scanner it says it is not and will consequently run slow..thought my printer was a bit slow as well come to think... I have got service pack 2 on, which apparently I also needed.Running XP Pro with Athlon 64 3500.Cheers.
That's a driver rather than motherboard issue. Try going to device manager is system properties. The usb component should have either 'hi-speed' or 'enhanced' in the name as otherwise you're using usb 1.1 drivers. Right click and choose update and select the appropriate driver from the list and you should be set to go.
I had the same problem on a friend's pc that had sp2 on it and that solved it.
I now longer get these messages......This USB device can perform faster if connected to a Hi speed USB 2 port....and....There are no high speed Hub connectors installed on this computer... although if I now go into Device manager and go to Universal Serial Bus Controllers I now have in the list the following in this descending order
Standard Enhanced PCI TO USB Host controller
Standard Open HCD USB Host Controller
Standard Open HCD USB Host Controller
USB Printing Support
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
Am I on the right path now my friend.
