    Windows "Search feature" crashes pc

yes boys and girls if i simply press f3 in windows it literally grinds my pc to a halt for 5mins! i mean i havn't even typed anything for it to look for! especially since i've got a gig of ram this really does surprise me.

    Rig Specs:
    2.2 Tbred A
    9800pro
    1Gb ram
    CWT 450 PSU
    Maxtor Diamondmax 9 160Gb

I thought it might be the usual spyware or virus but i literally have just spent the last few hours scanning my pc with latest version (and defs) of:

    Ad-aware
    Spybot Search and Destroy
    XoftSpy

and finally a full system scan with the latest defs of AVG and literally nothing (id cleaned it all bout 4-5 days previous also) not to mention ive defraged it 2 days ago and it still happens, and prefetching is off.

Just what the heck could it be?

Any help would be really appreciated,

    Adam

sorry but if you don't really need to use it then, just don't use it. simple fix.

get something like google desktop search if you need to find stuff on your hard drive.
your computer is similar to a fridge in that if it cannot keep a beer cold then it sucks

my missus laptop did this a while back. not 100% sure on what the problem was, but running SBS&D and AdAware cleared it up. If you reckon that hasnt worked for you give it a reformat. It never hurts.
