    Aria Returns

    Has anyone had to return anything to Aria? I got a laptop hard drive that was DOA. Did their RMA thingie online. It was issued on the 10/06/2005. I posted the drive back the next day via recorded delivery and it was confirmed recieved. On the 12th July I emailed them asking whats happening as I had heard nothing, I got a response saying it had been tested and found faulty but were waiting for stock. On the 28th July I checked their site, they have stock. I emailed them, then I get this reply:

    Dear **;
    RMA***** has been completed, please find the details below.

    1X30GB Hitachi TravelStar Laptop HDD was found to be faulty and has been replaced with 30GB Hitachi TravelStar Laptop HDD.

    Item/Items has been dispatched to:

    My addy

    Item/Items should be with you within the next few days provided they are in stock

    Its today (4th August), and still no drive. Have emailed them again, and they still have them in stock. Nearly two months for a replacement is a bit much.

    Aria use CityLink for deliveries - check for a tracking number and see where they delivered it to. They keep delivering my stuff a few doors away and never leave a card. On one occasion they delivered to an address TEN miles away and it took a week to track down because the driver couldn't remember where he had delivered it.

    Might be best phoning them - a friend of mine had problems with returns with them - he returned a faulty modem, which then was out of stock and he had to phone them and tell them to give him a modem (Any modem would do!) otherwise they were just going to ignore it and not send it out because the exact modem he had bought/returned was out of stock...

    This is the direct number of their customer service line that the 08704432389 number points to. Hope that helps a bit?

    I've never had a problem with returning faulty hardware to Aria, nor with receiving a replacement. However, I have only done this in person at their returns desk. If you're anywhere near Manchester, I'd highly recommend a visit. Most of them are friendly chaps who are happy to help. There's just something about complaining face-to-face that gets the job done.

    Wel I'm in London, so I 3 odd hr trek to Manchester is a bit much for something that should be straightforward. I have never had a problem with their service, this is the first time I have had to return an item. Thanks for the 0161 number, that will help. I'll be onto them on Monday morning!

    Glad to find that saynoto0870 link again - I used it a while ago & could never find it again. For anyone trying to use it, if it doesn't find the number, it is well worth searching by name - it may return a match on a different rip off number used by the company which you can use.

    Phoned them up yesterday, the guy sounded half asleep. Fogged me off basically, but the drive turned up today at long blooming last. Hoo blooming ray. Its funny how one bad experiance from a company can put you off for a bit. So thats nearly 2 months waiting.

    I returned something to them last Friday, they recieved it by Monday but they told me it was going to take up to 28 days just to check it's all there. Maybe I'm being unreasonable but I figured it couldn't take that long to figure out if something has been returned in good/bad condition even if the packaging has been opened.
    Thing is the only reason why I'm returning it is because I was mislead by the website (which stated mine was top of the line) and found the product I wanted the next day for a tenner less on their website?? Anyone know what my rights are or should I have stuck this as a new thread?
