    MS_Anti-Spyware

Saw this closed thread: http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=50830 concerning an expired version of MS_AS.

For many(myself included), the old version expired in July. However, users were advised via updater, that a new, longer lasting version was available, and would not expire until December 2005. Obtaining it, was simply a matter of updating, or downloading the later version.

For the new version of MS_AS, please visit the MS_AS site. There, you can obtain the new version and read about developments.

It should be noted that MS_AS, is free of charge. However, it does not take what many might deem as appropriate action concerning certain types of malware. To deal with those particular apps, you would be best advised to use other anti-spyware products.

I do. Gator, Gain, Claria....all the same shxx, basically. MS, oughta wise up and quick, too!

At least that's only software. Think of all those who have Dell computers, complete with the MyWay search bar as installed by Dell. It's then branded Dell-MyWay. It can be removed, but, it's been buried deep, and not where any average user would ever think of looking when trying to remove it. A friend of mine is currently perfecting a permanent removal procedure, right now.

When you purchase a Dell PC, you won't see MyWay search bar itemised. Not till they've got yer money, that is. It's only when you take a peek at what's being delivered that you'll see it's inclusion. Devious, that. Then try removing it. No "Remove" button in Add Remove Programs. And to cap it all, Dell tech support will now charge you $49 US for each and every call regarding help to get rid of the crap they put on the box in the first place!

Anyway, it's all come back to haunt Mikey baby, as there's been a tremendous backlash, to the point where even Dell Tech support (USA) has shut down. Sales have taken a knock, too.

It's all now in the public domain, so don't you Mods get too upset by my rant. All true, and then some. Lot more where that came from.

I think the development progress is stopped currently, as stated on different sites.... I guess we're still left with the beta's.... ::sigh::
