DVD Drive

The DVD drive on my mums pc has stopped working. It's recognised as there but it isnt seeing ANY media you put it, be it DVD or normal CD. Drivers are fine its just stopped.
Its just a standard LG one, wasnt that expensive if i remember correctly.


any ideas of how to get it to work? or am i going to have to replace it?

IF (only IF) you have nothing to loose, google for the model number and try reflashing the BIOS.

I've seen drives get an extra couple of months out by doing this.

Other then that, see if it works on another machine.

If it does, problem with the comp, if it doesn't, time to go shopping.

the cdrw drive works fine so i guess its the drive. i'll get them onto getting a new one then, cheers
