Question 2GB Sony USB pen - Corrupt

    Hi ppl

I have a problem with a 2GB usb pen, and I'm stuck for ideas.

Bought this pen off a colleague (who though someone else got it from China). Apparently It's a Sony Micro Vault pen (but have a suspission it's not, but i could be wrong).

Basically got the pen so when I'm working at site without a fast connection (ie they only have 64k IDSN) i can still update the computers without the need for lots of different CD's..

So I was copying files to the pen, then when it finished i check thou the directories only to find that some of the files were appearing as □□□□□□□□□ and other random characters, so I formated the pen and tried again.. again the files corrupted... so tried formatting the pen to FAT32 instead of FAT.. but again the same problem... So i started doing a search for the pen's software (as the mini CD provided only have software that would work on win 98.....) But could not get any of the Sony software to work..

I looked in Disk Management and saw that the 2GB is being reconised as having a total capacity of 128.0GB (which would be cool.. but they aren't available anywhere on earth yet!!!).

Just wondering (would like to bounce the idea of others), if I was to boot via a WIN98SE boot disk I could fdisk this thing? and hopefully sort out the obvious corruption? Alternatively could anyone a way I could do this with linux (and i would have to be linux boot via CD/DVD as I haven't got a machine with Linux installed... and no spare SATA hdd's )

Your help much appreciate as I dont like pouring money down the toilet.

A linux livecd should have the fdisk command as well, its pretty self explanatory, although you need to figure out which device it will be on, prob /dev/sd0
