    Need some help :(

Hi...i have a dell dimension 5000 pc and im wondering if anybody on this forum knows what kind of power supply dells new Dimension 5000 with a BTX case uses.

Ive asked else where and people have said to get a OCZ PSU.

But ive heard dells use "Proprietary" type PSUs meaning they are different to manufacturers ones.

So i would like someone to post if they definately know what kind of PSU i could get because i dont wanna end up frying my Motherboard.

    Any suggestions???

    Thanks

Just get any PSU that's BTX compliant. As long as it's BTX compliant, it should do the job and don't get a generic one either.

I'd stick to sourcing an official power supply. I don't know about this generation of Dell PSUs but they're notorious for making supplies in a proprietary format, right down to the fact it may use custom mounts and you'd be unable to install your chosen PSU even if you could use it out of the box. Offhand I know PC Power & Cooling manufacture replacement units for Dell but I don't see your model listed up there. Dell PSUs are usually very well made and run quietly to boot as they put a lot of effort into noise reduction for their cases so you should stick with the one it came with.
