"Rome - Total War" won't uninstall

Anyone know why the game "Rome - Total War" doesn't uninstall? I get the initial "installshield wizard" and the status bar thing gets to the end then it just dissapears and does nothing from that point on.

Have you tried uninstalling via windows uninstaller in the control panel or have you just tried using the uninstall from the shortcut in the start menu ?

Either way, try booting up in safemode and uninstalling it then, there could be something running in the background that is stopping it.

and try finding it in Add Reove programs.

IF not....REINSTALL OVER THE TOP and then uninstall.

Hi, it doesn't appear in the windows add/remove programs and I tried using "safe mode" but this will not work - I get the message "Error 1719 - The windows install service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running windows in safe mode......".

I can't do the option of a reinstall as I sold the game

I think I will have to physically delete the folder where the game is in, do you think this will cause problems?

If you delete the folder you will get a warning from windows itself but I have personally found in the past that it doesnt cause any probs.

You never know, it may have actually uninstalled and just left the folder there with your savegame in it, a lot of PC games actually do this so check on the size of the folder by right clicking on it and selecting properties. If it has only a small amount of mb in it then it will just be config options and savegame, otherwise if its showing a few hundred mb then its still there.

If you do just delete it, ignore the warning message from Windows and just delete it, then go into the registry and delete the keys it created.

if you dont want to bother with doing the registry yourself there are quite a few registry cleaners avaliable that will delete all the entries that it created, they do this as the enties will point to non existent files.

    Hello
You're not the first to have major agro with this game.
Try this sticky link from the Total War suport forums whcih discusses in detail uninstalling the game http://p223.ezboard.com/fshoguntotal...cID=2281.topic

I've just put the latest patch on and things are not good.
First of all machine kept freezing. Downloading latest Nforce4 SLI chipset driver and Geforce 81.85 driver seems to have to fixed the freeze. But then my Opt 165 machine timing went all erratic. Tried changing the core affinitiy and the problem seems to have ceased, or just gone away by itself.
On my ASUS A8N-VM CSM using the 6150 integrated graphics after installing the latest patch things are totalled pantsed up. The first screen gets displayed in 10 places as a 5x2 grid and then the display goes off. Not a crash 'cos can alt-F4 out and monitor wakes up again.
A lot of people are reporting problems with Nvidia Geforce drivers lately, so hopefully this might sort itself out post next driver release.
    Cheers
    snedger
