    P4p800s-x

    I have a P4P800S-X m/b that when I put the power plug in it starts up but it stays a black screen and no beeps or anything and you can't turn it off by the button

    Ideas ?

    its just a old m/b I'm using
    I have tested all other components and have cleared the bios but its still the same

    Try the bare minimum (e.g. mobo, CPU, GFX and 1 stick of RAM) and if it's mounted in a case try it outside of the case as it may be shorting on something. Also (no offence intended here) make sure you've got the P4 PSU connector plugged in as well as the normal ATX and that the heatsink and fan are mounted correctly. As a last shot try it without the BIOS battery - I've had boards refuse to post with a dodgy battery in the past (which doesn't make sense but it was happening - though this was a PC Chips board so it doesn't have to make sense)
