Does the Epson printer come with a driver/software disc or is available online? If so, disconnect your printer from the PC, and then install the software/driver from the net or the CD. After that, reconnect the printer (or when it suggests to in the software install). At this point it doesn't matter if windows still recognises it incorrectly. Now, go to My Computer, right click on it, and select Properties. Then under the Hardware tab go to Device Manager, and find the incorrectly diagnosed printer. Right click on this, and go to Properties, and select the Driver Tab.

Now, you can select the update driver, and it should now correctly detect it. However, you may have to tell it exactly what drivers to install, which is much easier if you have the CD. When you go to Update Driver you will be given the option to select the driver - go for that option if the automatic one fails to correctly identify it.

    Hope this helps

Could you tell us what printer it is exactly please?
If it's something like the R300, which has Memory Card slots, then Windows will detect a storage device which is quite correct.
    Let us know though...

Yeah my RX425 picks up as a mass storage device, and a scanner, and a printer, as it has all 3 items

It's just the way they work, they pick up each bit individually, doing it through 1 USB cable is a good idea.
