    No signal from 7800GT DVi

The following was instructed to me by a DELL technician:
With the pc running I just unplugged the dvi cable from my monitor to perform the lcd's self test, upon plugging the dvi cable back in there was no signal from the pc :S I rebooted and to my delight the windows screen appeared but....then after the boot check and the windows loading screen, the signal drops and the monitor goes into standby I have tried another dvi cable and the other dvi output on the gfx card to no avail. It seems that maybe when I unplugged the dvi cable the 7800gt has automaticaly changed a setting but it's strange to give a signal right up to the windows load screen then stop? I haven't tried d-sub yet.

    Please help, Rhyth

OMG! apparently I need the EDID patch from nvidia to re-activate my DVI ports, as unplugging a monitor from your pc will uninstall the DVI drivers! wtf,

    Thats drivel.

Boot in safe mode, i bet something appears, at which point you need to check your resolution and refresh rates, i bet one of them is set too high for your tft (60hz, and whatever res is). DVI doesnt require drivers, its an output mode, i unplug my monitor with the machine on loads.

You alsow want to check in the advanced timing section of the display properties to make sure everything looks right

Ok I can't get into safe mode, doh! F8 isnt doing the trick or if it is I cant see anything I dont understand why it shows the boot screen right up to the windows login....Ahrrrg Dell say its a wekll known issue with nvidia cards...well youd think they would ask what gfx card you had before telling you to unplug your monitor!
