never looked into them tbh but the advert does look too good to be true - how can learning at home for a few months get you a first rate IT job (the advert makes u belive ur gonna be programming computer games, IT manger etc etc) - if this was true why did i spend 3 years at uni

They are utter crap. Stay away.
Go to your local college / uni and get a real qualification.
Computeach just fill people with false hopes, while emptying their wallet at the same time.

Agent you totally summed up what i was gonna say - its just seems ridiculously easy to get a qualification for nothing - do people really think that a big business is gonna turn someone with a degree down for someone with a home qualification

even if you have to do a BTEC/NVQ its much better

if your gonna go ahead and do a foundation, u may as well continue for another year or so, HND could be an option - way better than a computeach qualification

it goes up in stages so that one i linked is like the begining but im sure i coiuld prove i could jump on the ladder further up, this then leads to various levels and then the foundation degree, followed by a place in kingston uni should you pass, im tempted becasue i could do all of this with the same amount of cash iu woudl get to go to computeach then get a loan for the uni course should i decide to go that far with it,

what i would like to know is when do people start taking you seriously with what qualifications?

depends where you wanna get a job really mate - you could have a masters and not get an IT job, alot depends on luck, but saying that if you get an interview, you want the best possible qualifications under your belt

If your purely talking about qualifications, then its a start, but you'll be lucky to get a job with a large pay cheque.
The problem you have is there are loads of people who have been building PC's from their youth. Your going to find it difficult to compete with these people as they have so much experience.

I think you need to really think about why you want to work in IT and what you want to do. I've been working IT in various guises for the best part of 6 years now and it really can be a thankless task. The money really isn't what people who advertise these things make out either.

Sadly when it comes to getting your foot in the door it's a vicious circle - you can have all the certs you like, but without real world experience nobody will touch you, and you can't get experience til someone gives you a job! It's relatively easy to get in at the bottom rung (like I did) and job a helpdesk/phone support for a bit - if the company you work for sees potential they'll exploit that as much as possible - if you let them do this but make it clear you want recognition for anything above and beyond your job description you should be able to get some serious experience and maybe even some recognised qualifications out of them. It's then your choice as to whether you stick around or disappear to a more techie job. That's pretty much what I've done so far...

...and I don't have any IT quals to my name. Not even an IT GCSE.

I got a qualification is CISCO and A+/Server+ at college.

Get a basic qualification like that and then go for something at the bottom.

About half way through that I got offered a job being and ICT Technician for 11 schools.

It's a start and then I can move up from there.

As long as you can get your foot in the door, then you can push your way up
