    Is my usb drive failing?

Just lately (week or so), my Crucial Gizmo 1GB has been playing up when I insert it. It usually takes a good few tries in each of the three ports on my laptop (although the two side ones are worse than the back) and both front ports of the machine I use at work. The funny thing is, after I've got the drive going in the back, I can remove it and use it in either of the two side ports! A while ago I lost the cover for it, am I looking at the result of physical damage?

well, if you hadnt tried it in your work computer i would say a faulty USB port.

have you looked at the plug on the pendrive? it could be the contacts have been worn away, you could try buying a pass through and see if once you have got the pendrive seated correctly in that if it still works like it should normally.

if it is still under warrenty i would RTB it though.

if not, i would just solder another connecter onto the end.....

sounds like the connectors might just need a clean or then again that the drive is fubar ( i had a drive do the same and it died eventually)

as it's a life time warranty for the crucial stuff just make sure it is defo the drive and then rma it tbh
