    Hyper Transport

    I was just checking this in the bios and it was set to 4*. Now I was able to switch this from 4 to 5. After doing so my PC seems a tad snappier in windows. My question is, is it just me or should it be a bit quicker? I had a general idea of what it did and it shouldn't really matter...but it definately does seem quicker.

    Theoretically yes - it gives you more bandwidth. Unfortunately there is little in terms of software that will make full use of it.

    If running an S939 at stock speeds, you should be able to run at 5, as this is the correct spec. Only lower it if overclocking.

    My system just seems snappier and quicker. It isn't by a great deal, but just that little bit extra.

    download any benchmarking utility and see whether 5x is faster than 4x or whether its just your mind telling you that 5x is 'better' though to be honest you should be getting better performance @ 5x

    Alternatively, drop the HTT to 4x, increase the CPU reference clock from 200 to 250 & drop the RAM onto the 166 divider.

    Result: HTT runs at 2000 (same as 5x200 setting), CPU runs at 2750 (as opposed to 2200) and RAM runs at 393 (as opposed to 400).

    Now that will be much snappier

    Will that work? Also would that mean setting ram at 333 or 166?


    Oh and my CPU is 754 so 2400@stock.

    if you have a 754 then 5x shouldn't be quicker as iirc 754 CPUs only are specced to do 800HT
