x800 pro and vista

so i downloaded the beta off ms.com

everything works fine, just the dangly bits were a bit slow, and i checked and my x800 wasnt installed

so i download the omegas - install them and reboot, still comes up with

'Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.'

installed the cats now about 5 times, after uninstalling the omegas, and it still says the same, any ideas?

as a note, i have not touched the card since it was working perfectly with windows xp, about half an hour before

Odd, I have an X800 Pro and the standard WDDM driver was working perfectly fine.
I downloaded the Vista Beta 2 Catalyst (combo 32/64-bit jobby at ~80MB) and installed it just now, it also worked fine.

Where does the error appear? On the desktop after you log on?

If you uninstall the 3rd party drivers and just let Windows detect it normally, what driver does it use and does it still report the error?

it says this device wasnt installed correctly, please reinstall drivers, etc

the code i got there was found on the device manager, as the x800 had a yellow '!' next to it - ive even tried the 32/64bit cats like you have and i get the same error message?

I wonder if it could be a BIOS setting, one of those regarding caching, shadowing AGP speed or what-have-you... this is an AGP card with 128/256MB onboard, right?

Then I would start with a "use safe defaults" option in the BIOS to see if it makes a difference, maybe fiddle with the AGP side-banding/speed settings to see if it helps at all.
Is there a BIOS update for your mobo, maybe?

I'm using a Powercolor X800 Pro 256MB AGP in an HP Pavilion t760.se system.

well ive tried reinstalling the drivers *again*, so might as well go have a fiddle with the bios now and see if theres anything in it

there probably is a bios update i could do, whether it will help who knows

nope same problem, the only agp property i can change in my crappola pc chips bios is fastwrite on or off, and its off i think
