    Annoying problem.

Basically when I power on my PC sometimes it'll just spin all the fans at max but nothing will happen. I hard power off and most of the time it comes back on. Today it just wouldn't have it. All cables are in, but taking the PSU cord out and leaving it for a short while, then pluging it back in seemed to have sorted it this time. My system seems perfectly stable in games e.g. played WoW all day yesterday.

My voltages seem ok..but they are lower than when I'm in the bios. My bios reports my 12v line as 11.97 or something. It's annoying me now...I can't really swap any components either.

I would say you may have a faulty PSU mate.

the 12v line does look quite low. when you first turn on the machine the load is at its highest. ie when the hd's is spinning up etc.

if possible i would get another psu installed to check and get a returns sorted for your existing one.

the quality of the psu you have is not in question any piece of hardware can fail.

Well I don't remember the PC ever doing it before I installed my NV8 and X1800XT (had an Asus K8VSE Deluxe and X800XT - the voltage reported was still around the 11.37 mark with that board). Do you think the graphics card has put too much load on it?

done a quick search and other people are having issue 450 watt psu's cards like this are particully hard on the 12v line.

i would of expected the machine to be unstable in games though.

when you look at the voltages in the bios the 3d / direct x aspects of the video card are not in use and the basically the machine is unloaded

try booting the machine without your optical drives connected that can reduce the load a little bit

Ah I honestly can't be arsed messing with things. I'll probably just pick up a new PSU. My PSU is 480 BTW. Check "My System" for spec's.
