SATA Help

Hey peeps

right.... ermmm i'm currently forced into getting a New Hard drive cos my other one has gone KerPlunk.....

Now ive been lookin around at SATA ones- and all i seem to find is SATAII

So-im wondering whether my SATA Slots on my mobo would run a SATAII HDD at SATA I Speeds?

My Mobo is Gigabyte K8NE Skt 754....

Yup, backwards compatability is the order of the day...

these drives ar very nice I have 4 of them

sata 2 are fine

most (i think) have jumper settings on the back to force the SATAII drive to work at SATAI speeds for particularly old SATA enabled motherboards. My Samsung Spinpoint does have this feature and it might be worth checking for just in case.

Yeah SATAII drives are backward compatable, some use a jumper. But they'll all work.
