Unhappy Shuttle ST20G5 temp. sensor broken?

    I have a Shuttle ST20G5 with an AMD 4200....

In both BIOS and XPC Tools, the machine is saying the CPU is between 66 and 72 degrees C idle.... The thing is, if I have the case open, I can touch the heatsink and heat pipes and they are cool to the touch. So the temp. reading can’t possibly be accurate....

Speedfan is saying the CPU is at 49 degrees idle....

I don’t much care, except the ICE fan goes into hyperdrive everytime it thinks the CPU is over 80… which happens pretty much anytime I do anything remotely CPU intensive.... basically whenever I go to show someone something on my machine, the fan goes nuts....

    - "Oh, what's that? Do you have a vacuum cleaner running under your desk?"
    - "No, it's just my brand new computer...."

Could this be a BIOS problem? I have the latest one from shuttle installed....
Has anyone had better luck with older BIOS, and if so, can you tell me which one worked best?

    Thanks in advance.
