Well today I've installed 2 320gb WD drives (16mb cache/7200rpm sata2) in raid. I've got a 160 as my O/S drive and the raid as storage. I've just ran HDtach on the raid and got mixed results:
Surely I should be getting more consistent speeds? My mainboard drives are from the CD (had the motherboard since easter) and the board is an Abit NV8 with a sata 1 controller. I'm running XP home/SP2.

Give people longer than 50 minutes to answer.
Mine does that too but I'm not sure if mine is entirely healthy (it goes down to 0 sometimes).
Edit: You could run the test on your old one and see how it fares.
